Just up the road from the Bennington Motor Inn is the Bennington Museum, where you can walk back through history and view Revolutionary artifacts, 1776 Bennington Battle flag, as well as the Grandma Moses Schoolhouse Museum Collection of fine originals. Just around the bend is the beautiful Old First Church with its historic cemetery, including the grave site of the poet, Robert Frost and his beloved wife. Also, if you are an enthusiast of Frost's poetry, allow time for the Robert Frost Stone House Museum in nearby Shaftsbury. Monument Avenue, with its stately old colonials, will lead you to the Bennington Battle Monument. A short ride in the monument's elevator will provide breathtaking views of our tri-state area, where you can gaze northwest toward the Bennington Battlefield in nearby Walloomsac, New York (where you can visit the campus of Williams College, enjoy Williams Theater during its show season, or gaze upon original oils of the Masters at the Clark Art Institute).
